Background:

Debu Tripathy, MD is professor of clinical medicine and co-leader of the Women’s Cancer Program. He holds the Priscilla and Art Ulene Chair in Women’s Cancer and his area of specialization is in medical oncology evaluation and treatment of breast cancer.


Dr. Tripathy received his medical degree and completed an internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center followed by a fellowship and subspecialty training in hematology/oncology at the University of California at San Francisco. He is Board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. His area of clinical research interest is novel therapeutics in breast cancer, specifically, growth factor receptor pathway targeting as well as biomarkers that predict sensitivity and resistance to treatment. He is active in developing and conducting clinical trials of newer diagnostic and treatment approaches for breast cancer. Dr. Tripathy is also part of a multi-disciplinary team of breast cancer specialists dedicated to patient-centered state-of-the-art and personalized approaches to care, with an emphasis on treatment plans that are tailored to the specific characteristics of every individual case and providing options that reflect the optimal outcomes based on our current knowledge as well the patients’ preferences.  


Dr. Tripathy has published numerous original laboratory and clinical research articles in the area of breast cancer and serves on several editorial boards, study sections and professional societies. He has served as the President of the American Society of Breast Disease and the Society of Integrative Oncology and is Editor-in-Chief of CURE Magazine.
