Background:

Originally from Texas, Dr. Ortiz completed her BS in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University and went on to complete her medical degree at Cornell Medical College in New York City. From there she traveled across the country to Los Angeles for her Internal Medicine & Rheumatology training at USC within the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center. She enjoys being a part of this world-class academic institution; teaching those in training as well as partaking in the care of those with complicated autoimmune diseases. She has a special interest in the transition of care from the pediatric to the adult provider for the patient with juvenile rheumatologic disorders and has spearheaded the development of a transition clinic within the LAC+USC Medical Center. Dr. Ortiz also finds time to travel, run and enjoy the multiple cultural events in and around Los Angeles.
