Background:
Dr. Omid is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He specializes in sports injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee, as well as all disorders of the shoulder and elbow, including degenerative and traumatic conditions. He has extensive experience in arthroscopic procedures, joint replacement and reconstructive procedures. Dr. Omid is a team physician for USC Athletics and has a special interest in athletes with the treatment of injuries of the shoulder and elbow, secondary to overuse or other activities.
Dr. Omid leads the Shoulder & Elbow Trauma Service at LAC+USC Medical Center, one of the busiest Level 1 trauma centers in the nation. He is actively involved in research and has authored numerous articles. His areas of interest include shoulder separations, fractures of the shoulder and elbow, rotator cuff tears, shoulder and elbow arthritis, cartilage injuries, ACL and meniscus tears.
The recipient of the Herman Epstein Award for Most Outstanding Resident, Dr. Omid is also involved in numerous national organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the Western Orthopaedic Association. He received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School. He completed his fellowship training in shoulder and elbow reconstruction at Washington University/Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he also worked with the sports medicine service treating the area's professional athletes including those from the St. Louis Rams and St. Louis Blues.
