Background:

Originally from Kanagawa, Japan, Dr. Shinada graduated from the Keck School of Medicine as a Dean’s Scholar and completed his residency at the LAC+USC Medical Center. Dr. Shinada developed an expertise in Rheumatology through subsequent fellowships: first at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center followed by LAC+USC Medical Center. In addition to his extensive teaching, research and patient commitments, Dr. Shinada has found time throughout his career to volunteer at the Oakland Headstart Program and the Berkeley Free Clinic and is currently an instructor at the Shotokyo Kendo Dojo. Kendo is the art of Japanese fencing.
