Background:

A native of Pakistan, Dr. Naqvi previously taught medicine at UCLA before joining the Keck School of Medicine of USC in 2007. Dr. Naqvi began her career at Cedars-Sinai in 1996 as a staff cardiologist, eventually becoming the center's director of Echocardiography and director of cardiovascular screening and interventional ultrasound. She heads the echocardiography services at the Keck School of Medicine, while also supervising junior faculty and overseeing quality control of echocardiograms. Dr. Naqvi is also responsible for the orientation and evaluation of cardiovascular fellows rotating through echocardiography labs at Keck Hospital of USC. In addition to her extensive research funding and published articles, Dr. Navqi is currently or previously has been a member of 10 professional societies, including the American Heart Association and the Los Angeles Society of Echocardiology, which she serves as president. Among her vast array of honors and awards, Dr. Navqi has been the recipient of the Scientist of the Week Award by the Association for Eradication of Heart Attacks and was written about in a UK publication depicting the Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century.
