The Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute (ZNI) is currently recruiting candidates to fill tenure-track positions in the area of discovery neuroscience. The ZNI, which is supported by major funding from W.M. Keck Foundation and other significant philanthropic sources, is housed in a 125,000 gsf state-of-the-art facility. The goal of the ZNI is to catalyze a major expansion in basic and translational neuroscience research at the Keck School of Medicine (KSOM).
 
We seek outstanding senior candidates with extramurally funded, innovative research programs potentially leading to clinical discoveries for better disease treatments in the following areas:  neuro-oncology and neuroimmunology; cell biology of protein accumulation in Alzheimer’s Disease; and neural regeneration in the visual system.  We are particularly interested in applicants who are expert in gene therapy, protein structural biology, retinal regeneration, and neurovascular and neuroimmune biology. Cluster hires will be considered.
 
The successful candidates will receive generous start-up packages and become part of an active and growing research community within the ZNI. Each successful candidate will be a ZNI Investigator with an academic appointment in the Department of Cell and Neurobiology and/or Ophthalmology within the Keck School of Medicine and will participate in the scientific, clinical and teaching activities of the department as applicable, as well as in the USC Neuroscience graduate program.
