Surgery involves the treatment or investigation of injuries or disorders of the body by incision or manipulation by instruments and is often employed by many medical specialties.

The Department of Surgery oversees the following divisions:

  • Burn surgery
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Esophageal, Foregut and pulmonary surgery
  • Hepatobiliary/pancreatic surgery and liver transplantation
  • Breast, soft tissue tumor, head and neck surgery
  • Colorectal surgery
  • Trauma surgery
  • Plastic and reconstructive surgery
  • Emergency non-trauma surgery
  • Vascular surgery
  • Pediatric surgery

Surgery programs are located at Keck Hospital of USC, USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and the LAC+USC Medical Center. Our faculty also work at USC-affiliated hospitals, and Huntington Memorial Hospital.
